Using tongs, carefully remove the corn from the pot and place it on a cutting board. While the corn is still hot, hold it with a towel or oven mitt to protect your hands. Cut off the bottom of the corn ear and firmly grip the top of the husk. With a gentle twisting motion, slide the husk down the ear, which will effortlessly remove both the husk and silk.
3- Microwave Method:
The microwave method offers a quick and convenient way to shuck corn. Begin by cutting off the bottom stalk of the ear, ensuring you leave the husk intact. Place the corn in the microwave, husk and all, and cook on high for 3-5 minutes, depending on the wattage of your microwave.
Once cooked, carefully remove the corn from the microwave using oven mitts or a towel. Hold the corn by the top of the husk and give it a firm shake, causing the ear to slide out effortlessly, leaving the husk and silk behind.
4 - Grilling Method:
Grilling corn imparts a smoky, charred flavor that elevates its natural sweetness. To shuck corn for grilling, begin by peeling back the outer layers of the husk, leaving them attached at the base of the ear. Remove the silk strands as much as possible. Next, soak the corn in water for about 10-15 minutes to prevent the husk from burning on the grill.
Once soaked, place the corn directly on a preheated grill and cook, turning occasionally, until the husks are charred and the kernels are tender (approximately 15-20 minutes). When the corn is cooked, use oven mitts or tongs to remove the ears from the grill. Hold the corn by the top of the husk and gently pull downward, sliding off the husk and revealing the grilled goodness.
