How to get rid of the musty smell from wardrobes

The closet is one of the areas in our home where bad odors develop the most . Partly due to the lack of air circulation, but also due to poor and sporadic cleaning. The accumulation of moisture leads to the formation of odor-causing bacteria.

The worst thing is that the classic musty smell from closets also settles on clothes and bed sheets. And there’s nothing more unpleasant than being faced with clean but smelly clothes , especially during the changing seasons when you have to deal with dozens of items.

Luckily, there are simple ways we can say goodbye to that musty closet smell . Below we will introduce you to the most effective ones.

Rice grains

Using rice grains in wardrobes is an ancient trick that allows us to absorb excess moisture and thus prevent the formation of mold.

Place some rice grains in small linen bags to place in corners or hang in cupboards. If you don’t have canvas bags available, you can put the rice grains in containers without lids.

White wine vinegar

The antifungal and antibacterial properties of white vinegar make it an excellent remedy for mold and bacteria that cause bad smells in our cupboards.

Remove all clothing and sheets from the closet, then wipe all interior surfaces with a cloth soaked in vinegar and allow to dry thoroughly, keeping the closet doors wide open. It will take about two hours.
