Lemons, we always have them in our pantry. And not for nothing, it is the essential citrus to season all our dishes; but also to detoxify our body. Except that precisely, by buying them and accumulating them for a long time in the kitchen, we run the risk of seeing them rot and having to reluctantly throw them away. You may not know it, but there are different ways to keep them longer without the risk of seeing them mold. .

Check out these four ways to store lemons for a long time so you don’t let them rot or waste them unnecessarily.
In ice cube molds

The first method is ice cubes. Original, but really effective, this trick will prevent your lemons from going to waste and retain their freshness for a long time.

Take your lemons, grate your zest, then squeeze in the juice. Put everything in the ice cube molds. All you have to do is put them in the freezer. When they are well solidified, unmold them, place them in an isothermal silicone bag and put them back in the freezer, you can take them out whenever you want and use them for all occasions.

The second method is using toothpicks. As you know, we often have the habit of cutting the lemon in half and using only half of it, while the other part is returned to the refrigerator. However, the mistake that almost all of us make is keeping this half open. Inevitably, it will lose its freshness and nutritional properties. The good reflex to take: use the toothpicks, inserting them between one half of the lemon and the other to pick it up. This way it will stay fresh for several days and ready to use!

in water

This method is also wise since all of the lemon will be preserved. Simple and practical, this trick allows you to preserve your lemons for longer without them going moldy. Simply place them in a container and add enough water to cover them. Put the lid on the container and put everything in the refrigerator for at least 2 or 3 days. If, on the other hand, you only have half a lemon left to preserve, put the cut half upside down in a plate full of water, which will preserve the pulp.
