Why do clever people flush baking soda down the toilet once a week?
The two “magic” ingredients we suggest are: baking soda and coarse salt. Quite similar in consistency, these white powders have tremendous cleaning, stain removal, and deodorizing abilities. As an added bonus, these products are natural, eco-friendly, and affordable. Excellent alternative to industrial chemicals, expensive and quite harmful to the environment.
We invite you to apply this remedy once a week, after carefully cleaning the bathroom. You will be relieved and delighted with the result: bad odors will completely dissipate, your toilets will be clean and healthy.
How to get rid of unpleasant toilet odors?
First essential step: disinfect the bathroom and toilets as usual. Next, pour a tablespoon of baking soda into the toilet bowl. Fill half a cup of coarse salt. Pour half into the bowl right after the baking soda. Wait a while for the mixture to take effect. Then flush the toilet. Shortly after, pour the rest of the coarse salt back in and leave it in the toilet until the next use.
Does this trick seem so simple that you find it hard to believe in its effectiveness? In fact, each of the ingredients has an important role to play: the very powerful baking soda will quickly eliminate all bad odors from the surface. While coarse salt will kill all the bacteria nesting in the pipes and thus block the odors that come from the sewers. In fact, in plumbing terms, bacteria and wastewater gases are responsible for these constant bad odors.
Good to know : do not hesitate to do the same operation on the bathroom drains, as well as on the sinks throughout the house. Once a week, get into the habit of adding a tablespoon of baking soda and the same measure of coarse salt to the drains. All bad smells will disappear in the blink of an eye!
