The sluggish Blues
It is at the end of a rather lackluster group stage that Didier Deschamps’ Blues will face Belgium this Monday evening in the round of 16 of the Euro. After the inaugural victory against Austria thanks to a CSC from an Austrian defender, the men of “la desch” then had difficulty breaking out of their torpor. Between Kylian Mbappé’s broken nose and everyone’s poor performances, it is with measured optimism that the Blues will face the Red Devils.

Griezmann at the center of criticism
During the third and final group match against Poland, they were caught behind despite the opening score of their number 10 and captain Kylian Mbappé. A performance all the more worrying as the Poles were already eliminated while the French were playing for first place in the group in the hope of falling into the most favorable part of the table. Gaps in the game which gave rise to controversy around its most experienced player: Antoine Griezmann. The Atletico Madrid player is indeed going through a rather complicated period and this is reflected in the Blues’ play.
Antoine Griezmann is no longer young
A diminishing influence therefore, for the man who has long been the playing master of this team. High-level sport is ruthless, in that it often ignores the past, sacrificed on the altar of present performance. But number 7 of the Blues is starting to age. For the first time in ages, he found himself having to sit on the substitutes’ bench for the third and final match against Poland. A sidelining that the main person concerned did not necessarily appreciate, therefore creating the start of a controversy which was, however, very quickly extinguished by the player and the coach.
