Growing grapes at home: easier than it seems!

  1. Select grape varieties: Choose varieties suitable for your climate, such as Concord or Thompson Seedless.
  2. Choose a sunny location: Plant grape vines in a sunny area with well-drained soil.
  3. Prepare the soil: Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball, adding compost to increase fertility.
  4. Planting: Space vines 1.8-2.4 meters apart along a trellis or support structure, planting in early spring.
  5. Water: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially in the first year. Established vines are drought tolerant.
  6. Training and pruning: Guide the vines along the trellis, pruning in late winter to promote fruiting.
