Jean Reno does not feel French
Jean Reno now lives in the United States, a country in which he feels comfortable, to the point of feeling more integrated than in France. He said on this subject: “I ended up considering myself a permanent migrant, but after knowing my last wife and settling in New York, the situation changed. Everyone there is an immigrant. In fact, I feel less like an immigrant in the United States than in France.”
For the actor, his personality would be an obstacle to his acclimatization in France. Even though he has been rewarded many times for his roles, like his friend Gérard Depardieu, he feels more Spanish than French.
Jean Reno made the effort to integrate
Jean Reno is therefore a true citizen of the world, but there is no question of him not making the effort to integrate. If he was well received all over the world, it was because he chose to integrate. On this subject, he said in 2016: “If you look at the people who arrive in Europe, you realize that those who have integrated are the non-Muslims. (…) Those who decide to stay in a culture based on religion will have problems in schools and in other institutions of the Republic.” Comments which shocked certain left-wing political figures.
Morocco, Spain, France, United States... Jean Reno feels good everywhere, but Andalusia remains the actor's favorite place. Without denying anything about its history, and while respecting its host countries, it proudly claims its origins.
