In our rush to wash, dry and reuse them straight away, we often forget one very important thing about towels: they come into regular contact with the skin, so we need to make sure they’re as soft as possible!

Sometimes we make a number of mistakes when washing them, which can leave them dry and rough.

Here’s how to make old, rough towels soft again!

Vinegar Towel

· With Vinegar
Vinegar is the natural fabric softener par excellence!

Many people have completely abandoned the use of industrial fabric softeners and rely entirely on this natural method, not only for towels, but for all other household textiles as well.

All you need to do is soak your towels in hot water and 200 ml of white vinegar. Leave them there for a few hours, then wash them by hand or machine.

If you want to use this method directly in the washing machine, you will need to put a cup of vinegar in the fabric softener compartment.

You can also add 5 or 6 drops of essential oil of your choice to the vinegar to make your clothes smell nice!

chamomile tea

· With chamomile
One of grandma’s remedies, still popular today, is to use chamomile to soften towels!

Chamomile has very effective emollient properties in this case.

Simply prepare an infusion with water and 2 sachets of chamomile. Let it cool and put it in the basin in which you soak your towels.

Let them soak for a few hours, then gently wring them out and wash them by hand or machine.

lemon napkins

· With lemon
Like vinegar, lemon has emollient properties.

It may also be the right choice for the scent it gives off on your clothes, fresh and intense!

To do this, soak the towels in warm water and the strained juice of 2 lemons. Let them soak for a few hours, then proceed with the traditional wash.
