What is pulmonary aspergillosis ?
Pulmonary aspergillosis is an infection caused by aspergillus, a fungus very common in air vents and dust in the air. Inhaling aspergillus spores makes it easier to contract this disease.
It can take several forms: pulmonary aspergillosis can develop in the sinuses or lungs and take the appearance of a ball made up of fungal filaments (fungi) and blood cells. Typically, this form of aspergillosis does not spread to other parts of the body.
In other cases, pulmonary aspergillosis can be more violent and spread very quickly in the lungs and through the blood, it can affect the brain, heart, liver and kidneys. This form of Aspergillosis is called invasive, it affects people whose immune systems are weakened.
