How to Clean Exterior Headlights?

Here are some simple methods to restore the shine to your car's exterior headlights:

1.  White Vinegar and Baking Soda

  • Ingredients  :
    • 2 parts white vinegar
    • 1 part baking soda
    • Microfiber
  • Instructions  :
    1. Mix white vinegar and baking soda in a bowl.
    2. Soak a microfiber cloth with the mixture.
    3. Gently rub the headlights to remove dirt.
    4. Rinse with clean water and let dry.
    5. If necessary, repeat the operation.

Tip  : If your headlights are very dirty, don't hesitate to repeat the operation several times.

2.  Lemon Juice

  • Ingredients  :
    • 1 lemon
  • Instructions  :
    1. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
    2. Apply the juice to a clean cloth.
    3. Rub the headlights until the dirt disappears.
    4. Wipe off residue with a damp cloth.

Lemon juice contains citric acid which helps dissolve mineral deposits and other dirt.

3.  Toothpaste

  • Ingredients  :
    • Toothpaste (paste, not gel)
    • Painter's tape (optional)
  • Instructions  :
    1. Start by cleaning the headlights with car soap, then dry them.
    2. Use tape to protect the area around the headlights if necessary.
    3. Apply a small amount of toothpaste to a damp cloth.
    4. Rub the headlights vigorously.
    5. Rinse with water and let dry.

The microscopic particles in toothpaste act as a mild abrasive, polishing headlights and removing tarnish.
