The passing of Herbert Léonard leaves a great void in the hearts of the French. Friend and author of the hit “Pour le plaisir”, Julien Lepers shares his sadness and looks back on his meeting with the singer: “He was someone precious to me”.
Out of modesty or perhaps to protect his audience, he had just cancelled a concert, claiming " a small health problem ". Herbert Léonard died at the age of 80 this Sunday from lung cancer, the result of " 55 years of smoking weed ".
" Here it is... The worst has happened! Herbert Léonard is gone! He is gone, died of lung cancer and the damage caused by smoking cigarettes, flown away, fled... Far from the disease, from everyday life, far from his audience, far from the shows where he met so many of you " his wife Cléo laments in a moving letter addressed to the public, with whom she had gotten into the habit of corresponding to share the recent news about the singer's fragile health.
His career, which began in 1967, really took off in 1981 thanks to the hit “Pour le plaisir”, written by a certain Julien Lepers. The latter shared his strong emotion this morning in the columns of Le Parisien .
