We reveal the ingenious trick used in luxury hotels that will make you see toilet paper in a different way.

We use toilet paper every day, and yet it remains an extraordinary invention. Let’s get to know its origins better and what is the trick of all hotels.
The origins of toilet paper
Toilet paper is one of those products that we use every day without thinking too much about it, but did you know that its origins date back thousands of years? The first precursors of this product were already used in ancient Egypt, where the rich used sea sponges to clean themselves after their physiological needs.

In the Middle Ages, Europeans used small pieces of cloth called “fine cloths” to clean themselves. Despite their name, these cloths were not particularly hygienic and were often reused several times.

The first real one was invented in China , where it was common to use rice paper for hygienic purposes. Rice paper was made by hand and used by the wealthier classes.
Modern toilet paper was invented in 1857 by an American engineer named Joseph Gayetty . Gayetty created sheets of paper pre-lubricated with aloe and sold them as a hygienic product to clean the anus. However, his product was not very successful and was soon forgotten.
The paper in question did not really become popular until the 1890s , when a New York company began selling rolls of this smooth, aloe-free paper. This paper soon became very popular and its use spread rapidly.
Today, toilet paper is an essential product in every home and is used all over the world. There are many types of paper, from classic white to colored or scented, and it is made with different types of paper, such as cellulose paper or recycled paper.
