Ingredients:
1 cup of white vinegar
½ cup of baking soda
1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap (optional)
A few drops of essential oil (optional, for added fragrance)
A microfiber cloth or sponge
An old toothbrush
Warm water
Directions:
Prepare the Machine:
Empty your washing machine and remove any visible debris or lint from the drum and rubber seals.
Clean the Detergent Drawer and Seals:
Remove the detergent drawer (if possible) and soak it in warm, soapy water. Scrub off residue with the toothbrush. Wipe down the rubber seals around the drum with a damp cloth, focusing on hidden crevices.
Run a Vinegar Cycle:
Pour the cup of white vinegar directly into the detergent dispenser or drum. Set the machine to the hottest and longest cycle. Vinegar helps to dissolve limescale, kill bacteria, and eliminate bad odors.
Add Baking Soda for Extra Freshness:
Once the vinegar cycle finishes, sprinkle the baking soda into the drum. Run another hot cycle. Baking soda helps neutralize remaining odors and removes any leftover residue.
Scrub and Shine:
Use a microfiber cloth dipped in a solution of warm water and dish soap to wipe the exterior of the machine, the drum, and any remaining areas. For tough spots, use the toothbrush.
